Three Fantasy Class Ships Rumoured To Be Scrapped

Multiple sources are today suggesting that three Carnival Cruise Line Fantasy Class ships will be leaving the fleet over the coming weeks.

It has today been heavily rumoured that three of Carnival's oldest class of ships, the Fantasy class, could be leaving the fleet as early as the end of the month. The three ships are supposedly Carnival Fascination, Carnival Fantasy and Carnival Inspiration.

The CuraƧao Ports Authority is reporting on their Facebook page, as above, that Carnival Fantasy & Inspiration are currently being stripped of all of their valuable and heavy equipment. This is a process which usually takes place before a ship is sold or scrapped. In addition to this, the ship tracking website VesselFinder is showing Carnival Fantasy's next destination as Izmir, Turkey - just roughly 30 miles from a ship breaking yard. The ETA currently given is July 28th.

In addition to Inspiration and Fantasy, Carnival Fascination is also believed to be heading to the shipyard at Aliaga (Izmir), Turkey. She is currently awaiting entry into the Suez Canal after repatriating Asian and Indian crew over the last few weeks. It is thought that she will enter the Suez Canal over the coming hours before heading up to Turkey.

Since Carnival Cooperation announced that they would be retiring ships early, it has been thought that the Fantasy class could be on the chopping block - being some of the oldest in the fleet. It's worth noting that these are not the three oldest ship in the Fantasy class, with Ecstasy and Sensation both being older than Fascination and Imagination. Obviously, it is currently unknown wether any other ships from the Fantasy class will be leaving the fleet.
