Let's Talk About Odyssey Of The Seas Deployment.

With the recent announcement of the name of the latest Royal Caribbean ship, Odyssey Of The Seas, earlier this week, we have decided to make this blog on our thoughts of where the ship will be located for her first years sailing.

The CEO of Royal Caribbean stated not long before the name announcement that he believes that Odyssey will be based from Europe and America, at least for the foreseeable future. He also played down any suspicion that the ship will be based in Asia - claiming "It's definitely not going to China".

Odyssey Of The Seas Steel Cutting Ceremony.

If the ship is to be sailing Europe and America then it is almost certain that the months from roughly November - mid May will be spent in the USA, whilst May - November will be spent in Europe; therefore following the same schedule as the vast majority of the other ships which operate in Europe in the summer months. Mr Bailey also commented that Odyssey will visit Southampton in October 2020, before presumably heading over the pond for her winter season.

Winter 2020.
After visiting Southampton in October 2020, we are 90% sure that Odyssey will be going straight across the pond to America. Where she will go when she arrives is currently anyones guess, but if I were to place my bets I would say that she is headed for New Jersey - essentially replacing Anthem Of The Seas. Anthem will already be spending the summer months in England (operating from Southampton), and has been replaced in NJ by her larger but older sister Oasis Of The Seas. The only issue with this deployment is that Oasis is not suited well for colder weather climates, exactly what NJ would be in the winter months. This would set the path exactly right for a swap over time for Odyssey and Oasis, most likely with Oasis heading back to the Caribbean for winter. As to where Anthem will be heading is the subject for another blogpost!

Summer 2021.
The information that we have for 2021 is even more vague than that of 2020. Based on what Mr. Bailey has said, we are expecting Odyssey to be coming back over to Europe for the summer season. We also believe that the ship will be based in the Mediterranean (probably Barcelona) as this is what has been hinted before. However, this comes with a couple of things which made me think twice. Firstly, all Quantum class ships have been designed for colder climates, and I don't suspect that Odyssey will be any different, so would the mediterranean suit her? I'm not sure but I suppose we will see. Secondly, Anthem Of The Seas will be sailing in Europe 2020, so presuming that both her and Independence sail out of Southampton again in 2021 this will mean that two Quantum class ships will be sailing out of Europe (something which is no bad thing, just not likely). Could it be possible that Oasis class ships will be continue to sail out of Barcelona and Odyssey will sail out of Southampton, essentially replacing Anthem Of The Seas. What do you think will happen in Europe for 2021?

Some new features of Quantum Ultra class include Skypad.

This blog is a new style for me, which I hope you have enjoyed reading through. I wanted to make somewhere that I could get all of the information which I have received from countless sources and collate it into something easier to read, which I hope I have done for you here. If you have any more information that you think would be good to add to this blog then please let me know and I may try and fit it into the article!
